Fourth Sunday Hospice ...... Care Bags for Hospice Palliative Care patients ... Supporting Sole Hope ... Movie Night/Parents Night Out ... Prayer Shawl Ministry .... Celebrations and Fellowship .....
The Transfiguration Church Women are part of the ECW or Episcopal Church Women, a national organization of the Episcopal Church. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month in the parish hall at 12:30. Bring a lunch and enjoy some fellowship before the meeting.
We are currently supporting the following ministries:
Hospice Palliative Care Projects: Fourth Sunday Hospice Pantry Collection
Each month the TCW collects and delivers food items to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. These items are then taken by the Hospice nurses to those in need.
The TCW also puts together care bags for Palliative Care nurses to deliver to their most needy patients during holidays. We included a nutrition drink, healthy snack bar, chocolates, and a card from the Church Women.
An organization called Sole Hope that is working to rid children in Uganda of a parasite that infects the feet. In 2017, we visited their Salisbury, NC office to learn more about their work in Uganda. In 2018, we gathered medical supplies and sent donations. In 2019, we continued our support by partnering with our Bare Necessities Ministry to send feminine hygiene and diaper kits to Sole Hope along with a Sock Drive that will supply black crew socks in boys sizes for the Sole Hope Outreach house in Uganda.
In 2020, we will continue to provide monetary support for this ministry.
Ingathering for the United Thank Offering. United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church
Prayer Shawl Ministry: Members of the congregation create prayer shawls to be given to members of the community who are suffering in some way. As the shawl is being made, the person prays for the future owner. If you know of someone who would benefit from receiving a Prayer Shawl, please contact Joselyn, Saundra, Jeanette, or Carlann. Movie nights for our children. Members of the TCW prepare a meal and entertain the children with games and a movie. We have joined with the Backyard Sports ministry to include the Backyard Sports children as well as those who attend our church.
Come join us as we take on new ministries for 2018.
